#3) Gear
Shifters - Your bikes gear shifters shift your gears .....that
is to say they shift into another gear when you shift
them.
The right side shifter controls the rear gear
changers or derailleur's five to ten possible gears.
The left controls the front two to three gears, giving
a range from fifteen speeds to as much as thirty speeds.
Shifters are available in many different styles including
stick-shift style, like the old three speeds; throttle
style like a motorcycle; trigger style like a fishing
rod; frame or stem mount, or the very coolest road
levers with dual functions, that change gears but
also work the brakes as well .
